Dickinson uses the metaphor of a funeral to describe her inner struggles. What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

Prompt Response: The Metaphor I would use to describe my mind would be a river. I would use this because I feel like my mind is always moving; making decisions, thinking, and planning. I like to think that my thoughts are like animals that inhabit the river, because some are very calm and mellow, sitting at the bottom of the water, while some are racing against the current near the surface.

Summary: Today in class, we read and analyzed a poem, and started on an art project.

Review: Today, I learned how many symbolic items Emily Dickens on had in her poetry to describe something as simple as loosing your mind.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

As you gathered sources, you were expected to find multiple perspectives on your topic. What differences did you notice between your sources? Explain how these differences helped you better understand the complexity of your issue.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?
