People sometimes feel the need to step away from their normal routines or environments in order to better understand themselves. Describe a time when you needed distance from a situation, place, or group of people in order to think more clearly or gain perspective. What did that experience teach you about yourself?
Prompt Response: Often times, I find myself trapped in a strict routine. I get in ready for bed at a certain time so I can be in bed at another and wake up at the right time. Last year, I was very strict about my bedtime rituals that I left myself no room for relaxation. I became paranoid and hyper-attentive to the time to the point where I gave myself anxiety, thinking if I didn't do everything the way I was supposed to things would go South in an instant. However, I am now in dual enrollment, so I can go to sleep whenever I want (given I don't have class early the next morning). This has given me much more freedom to do the things I want to do before bed without fear of messing up.
Summary: Today we read chapters 2 and 3 of "Into the Wild"
Reflection: Today I learned it's okay to leave behind something if it causes you harm or discomfort.
